Family Reunion and Argos Jumps in the River!

Today we went to Laurie's family reunion (Lawrence side). We didn't meet as many new people at the reunion as we'd hoped, but we had a good time with some old friends and enjoyed more of the beautiful Kern River (more on that to come).

Person:

I only met a few new people at the reunion, but one of my favorites was Natalie. Natalie is 14 years old and is a consummate animal lover. She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, and gladly talked my ear off about dogs, cats, fish, and whatever else she could think of. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and I loved the short time I spent with her.

Place:

Today's place was definitely the Kern River. The picture pretty much says it all. Argos loved jumping in over and over, and learned to swim very well against the current to get back to shore. We had so much fun with this today. The river is very peaceful at this point, with some mild rapids and a slow current. Unfortunately, we didn't get to float down it in an inner tube like so many others we saw.

Food:

We went to KRBC for beers and snacks with Laurie's cousins Eric, Kenna, Scott, and Tricia tonight. They have delicious battered fish there. It was incredibly tender and the batter was tasty. We dipped it in flavorful tartar and chipotle sauces.
